Speaker Bios: Samantha West is a dedicated sustainability and resilience professional with a strong background in environmental management, land development, and planning. Currently serving as the Sustainability and Resilience Manager for Volusia County’s Growth and Resource Management Department, she leads sustainability initiatives, manages grants, and oversees key programs, including the Lyonia Environmental Center and the implementation of the county’s Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) and Regional Resiliency Action Plan (RRAP). Samantha holds the Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI), demonstrating her expertise in sustainable and resilient infrastructure practices. She is also an ISA Certified Arborist®, further solidifying her commitment to environmental stewardship. With a Graduate Certificate in Ecological Restoration from the University of Florida and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Humanities from Florida State University, Samantha has developed a comprehensive understanding of environmental conservation and regulatory compliance. Throughout her tenure with Volusia County, Samantha has held progressive roles in Planning & Development Services and Environmental Management, demonstrating expertise in zoning, site planning, wetland protection, floodplain management, and interagency coordination.
