Maria is the Environmental Group Leader at S&ME. Maria oversees the environmental group that performs services including natural resources, Statewide Environmental Resource Permitting (SWERP), wetland mitigation, protected species surveys and permitting, USACE permitting (401/404/408) for linear transmission corridors, green fields, and private developments. Maria is a wetland specialist and gopher tortoise agent. She graduated from Western Kentucky University in Geology/Earth Science.
Under Maria’s tenure as VCARD Chair, she pushed for the creation of the Next Generation of Responsible Development professionals (NX|RD). These young professionals spearheaded annual Coastal Cleanups on International Coastal Cleanup Day; a Bike Drive during the Christmas season purchasing over a dozen new bicycles for the Salvation Army; and currently, the NX|RD is focusing on research to help further the discussion on responsible development in Volusia and Flagler Counties.
