Volusia Updates Integrated Floodplain Management Plan

Volusia County participates in the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System ("CRS"), a voluntary program that provides a discount to flood insurance policy holders in Volusia County. Activity 510 of the CRS program is Floodplain Management Planning. In 2013, in order to maximize the available points in Activity 510, Volusia County Emergency Management contracted with the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council to develop a Countywide Integrated Floodplain Management Plan (the "Plan"). The original Plan was adopted by county council on September 26, 2013. The CRS program requires that the Plan be updated every five years, and that the update be adopted by the local governing body. Staff will request on 9/18 for the adoption of this updated plan.
